BenQ is a Taiwanese manufacturer of projectors, best known in the United States for their home theater projectors. InFocus Projectors

InFocus is the last surviving big name in American projectors and is likely still the most recognized brand in the industry. A decade ago, InFocus was more than just a brand – people would say "I need an InFocus" when they needed a projector, just as one would ask for a "Kleenex" when wanting a tissue or "Aspirin" when they had a headache. In 2009, publicly traded InFocus was purchased and is now a private company only manufacturing and selling projectors for business, education, and home.

LG Projectors

LG projectors are relatively new in the US market, but models sold in the EU and elsewhere have been around for several years. LG is expanding it's lineup. Mitsubishi Projectors

Mitsubishi is truly a major player in the home theater, business, education, and government projector markets. Perhaps most interesting about its lineup on the business side is that Mitsubishi pretty much builds something for everyone. NEC Projectors

NEC projectors produce large, crystal clear screen displays with a consistency you can count on. NEC projectors have a reputation for sharp picture, which have receied several industry awards. Panasonic Projectors

Panasonic Projectors come in all sizes, shapes, and capabilities. Panasonic is a significant player in the business projector sector with a strong emphasis on the education projector market. As recently as 2009, Panasonic offered both the best-selling 720p and 1080p projectors in the United States. On the business and education side, Panasonic is very strong in commercial-grade, high-power projectors. However, Panasonic seems to be moving away from lightweight portable models, having reduced the number of such moels produced. Panasonic builds both LCD and DLP projectors. Runco Projectors

Runco is one of the premier companies in the home cinema projector industry. Runco does have a few less expensive models, but they are best known for high-end projectors in the $20,000 to $100,000+ range. Sam Runco pioneered home theater projectors and only one or two companies such as SIM2 in Europe compete with Runco for the high-end home cinema projector market. Sanyo Projectors

Sanyo offers an extensive range of business and home theater projectors. On the commercial side, the Sanyo projector lineup is best known for its big, bright projectors up to 15,000 lumens used for auditoriums as well as rental and staging. Sanyo has at least two-dozen portable projectors optimized for business and classroom use. Sanyo offers a nice, long three year parts and labor warranty, and guarantees, when warranty service is required, complete service in 72 hours or less. Sharp Projectors

In recent years, Sharp's line is mostly concentrated on projectors for business, education and government use. Sony Projectors

It's a Sony. Now, what does that mean? Sony makes both home theater and business projectors. Sony is rather serious about their home theater models, the best of which use their SXRD - LCoS - technology, which is highly regarded in the industry. Sony has always offered an extensive lineup of business projectors, and many models are suitable for classroom use. While the Sony name carries a lot of weight behind it, it should be noted that the Sony projector lineup includes a number of excellent projectors whose reputations would stand on their own even without the Sony name.
